The surrounding region is relatively built-up, including a police station, shops, guesthouses, and supermarkets, and the beach itself offers calm, shallow water that is great for swimming, snorkelling, and windsurfing.

Anse Intendance is a well-known, wild beach in the south of Mahé. The incredible white sand is framed on both sides by granite boulders, making this beach one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles. During the south-east trade winds (May to September), swimming can be dangerous, and is not to be recommended.

Glacis Beach is more two beaches than one, with the two distinct sections separated from each other by rocky formations. The water here is deeper than elsewhere, but still safe for swimming and snorkelling. There is also an excellent view of Beau Vallon and Silhouette Island from the beach.
