Description:

Anse Bateau is a smallish, deserted beach on the south coast of Praslin, the Seychelles’ second-largest island. The water here is extremely shallow, while the seabed is a mixture of sand and mud, so it isn’t possible to swim here. In fact, it can be hard to see what there is to do at Anse Bateau. That said, there are some appealing features to the beach that will appeal to certain Seychelles holidaymakers.

Getting to the beach is relatively simple, as the beach lies next to the coastal road on Praslin. This means that visitors can come by car and simply park at the side of the road. Alternatively, Anse Bateau is fairly close to some small hotels, so guests of these establishments can simply walk along the coast to get to the beach.

Greeting you at Anse Bateau are impressive rock formations, shallow water, and an excellent view of some of the other Seychelles islands, Mahé, Cousin, and Cousine. As mentioned, the beach is almost always deserted, so anyone looking to escape the general tourist areas will find something to like about this small bay. That said, due to a nearby rock quarry, the beach is not always quiet, so there are better options for a quiet, relaxing afternoon on the sand.

The most appealing aspect of Anse Bateau is probably the scenery, which makes for excellent photographs. The impressive granite formations that jut out of the sand here are what the Seychelles islands are famous for, and Anse Bateau is a worthy addition to the Seychelles’ excellent selection of beaches and bays.
