Description:

Anse Madge is a curved beach in the south-east of Praslin, located in the larger Baie Sainte Anne. As with some of the other nearby beaches, Anse Madge is primarily a fisherman’s bay, so is rarely frequented by tourists. In addition, the water here can be rather deep, and there is often seaweed floating in the bay and resting on the sand, so there are more pleasant beaches elsewhere on the island. That said, there are a few pleasing features that may convince you to take a trip to Anse Madge.

If you do decide to venture here, the easy-access of the location is certainly a positive, with a bus service stopping nearby, and ample parking in the vicinity too. There are also some guesthouses and other accommodations in the area, so patrons of these establishments will have just a short walk to the bay if they wish.

Unlike most of the other beaches in the Seychelles, there isn’t a whole lot to do at Anse Madge. Unfortunately, the water can be deep, and there are lots of plants and seaweeds that grow under the surface, which can make it unpleasant to swim in. The main draw of the beach is probably the chance to spot some local fishermen tending to their boats. You can also sometimes spot some local fishing boats moored on the sand for repairs.

All in all, it can be difficult to see a reason to venture to Anse Madge. However, in reality, the unique atmosphere of this region on Praslin can be really appealing for anyone who wants to get up-close-and-personal with the daily lives of the Seychellois. This is a good spot on Praslin to see Seychellois fishermen go about their business, making Anse Madge a great little beach for anyone looking for the authentic Seychelles during their stay. Besides that, the general lack of other tourists ensures a peaceful spot for a relaxing day.

The concept of the restaurant is one where no fixed a la carte menu is in place, but rather a daily changing variety of fresh fare in which the products are sourced daily from local producers and is skillfully prepared in order to enable diners to enjoy a combination of flavours and textures. Not your typical traditional creole cuisine, but a lighter interpretation.
