Chez Marston is one of the smallest so-called 'small hotels' on La Digue. As with most accommodations on the island, Chez Marston is located close to the beach of Anse Réunion, just 40m from the sea. The small island village of La Passe is also especially close to the hotel.
Activities and specials:
- Enjoy some of the Seychelles' most beautiful sunsets on the nearby beach.
- The hotel's restaurant is a magnet for all visitors to the tiny island of La Digue, as well as the residents, and serves excellent Creole and international cuisine.
- There is a bicycle rental service nearby.
- The small port town of La Passe offers some more excellent restaurants, and is less than 5 minutes' bike ride away.
- Marston, the owner, is extremely friendly, and will happily organise tours to other islands, or to some of the surrounding diving and snorkelling spots. Just ask him during your stay.
What began its life as one of La Digue's first restaurants is now one of the island's key addresses. This is largely thanks to the restaurant's excellent location, alongside the small island path that connects the harbour town of La Passe (to the north) with the famous Anse Source d'Argent beach (to the south). Anyone riding to the beach from La Passe will travel past Chez Marston. The hotel is also one of the closest establishments to the beach, so people often stop here for a cool drink and a spot of food to eat. In the evenings, the restaurant is often frequented by locals, which speaks to the quality of the food on offer.
As well as expanding the restaurant several times, Marston, the owner, has established a small but well-run hotel. These days, there are four well-maintained rooms on offer, located behind the restaurant in a peaceful location. The decoration here is simple and practical, and the establishment is run by Marston and his family.
Chez Marston is just 40 metres away from the beautiful beach of Anse Réunion, but most visitors will probably walk the longer distance to Anse Source d'Argent, or even all the way to the stunning Grand Anse. All of these beaches are easily-accessible from Chez Marston, which makes the hotel a perfect starting point for a beach holiday on La Digue. The excellent location, along with the fantastic care that Marston and his family take of their hotel, makes Chez Marston an excellent choice for a holiday on La Digue.

I would not recommend this hotel, even if it looks great on the picture. There are a few rooms with bathrooms, very small and located behind the restaurant on the street front. No direct access to the sea, no loungers. The next access to the sea was about 8 minutes. next to the medical station. We then found a nice bathing place about 30 minutes away from town. Room was clean, service good. The hot water connection at the wash basin has unfortunately been forgotten. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
A great location not far from the harbor. Shops and banks can be reached on foot within a few minutes or even next door. Super clean rooms with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Again, friendly staff with very good service. The food a la carte is recommended. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Everything was alright Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The accommodation at Chez Marston is very central and was very cute. The apartment was right behind the kitchen, but it did not bother us at all. Every day came the cleaning service and has brought fresh towels, etc., but would not have been necessary. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Excellent accommodation on the main street just a few minutes walk from the port. Satisfactory breakfast and friendly staff. Some things need a "freshening up" being quite dated. Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Typically La Digue.! Slightly worn, staff relaxed! Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The space and the location of the accommodation was good. Half board is absolutely not recommended, as can be selected for dinner from a small menu and the choice is very small, especially for vegetarians were only two main courses available. The pizza was very bad, the vegetarian curry good, but 3 days in a row vegetarian curry was very monotonous. The breakfast buffet was adequate. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Unfortunately the accommodation was not the best. Broken water taps broken tiles, a bit worn, terrace overlooking the courtyard, where the employees were hiding loudly early in the morning. Location near a lautèn kindergarten. The service, dinner and friendliness of the staff were outstanding. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Nice staff, good breakfast and central location. However, a bit older. The bathroom smelled something due to leaks. Otherwise very clean and absolutely recommended as a low budget. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Nice room with a nice terrace. Very original flair, you could move well and free. Breakfast was unfortunately one-sided (toast bread, two sorts of jam, pancakes and some pieces of cake. Except for grated cheese no cold cuts). Dinner was good, unfortunately a limited selection of a few dishes with half board booking Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The accommodation was very clean. The staff very friendly. Particularly helpful were the receptionist Jacyntha and the owner. With our VPay card (debit card from the Volksbank), we could not withdraw money from the machine there and since we have never used the credit card to withdraw money from the machine, we did not know our PIN. Because we only had a few hundred EURO in cash, that was a problem. They then kindly paid us a larger sum in rupies via the credit card. The breakfast was sparse for German standards, although always different cakes were offered. The choice of half board card (3 courses) was small with a stay of 11 days. We also went to eat in the restaurant. For this we were on the last evening a great surprise dinner with fish, meat and salads conjured and to the drinks we were invited. The location in La Passe was perfect for us. Everything was within walking distance (restaurants, small supermarkets, very good bakery, banks, post office, harbor etc.) The beautiful beach Anse Severe with shady trees was reached by bike in 5 minutes. If we come back, we would choose the Chez Marston Self-Catering Orchid. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
simple accommodation but always clean and well maintained Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
hotel is good, staff is nice. breakfast is very good.
Price performance good and a suber accommodation. Food good and a bit spartan but good for us as we prefer sweet breakfast. Staff friendly and accommodating. Price performance as expected. Centrally located. Close to the harbor. Next door kindergarten, so during the day sometimes a little louder. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
friendly welcome, helpful with questions, clean room, great location Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
This small sweet hotel can only be recommended. Very nice people, always friendly, always helpful. Cute little clean rooms with a terrace. The choice for dinner (half board) could be a bit bigger, but everything was delicious. Only the 40 meters to the beach indicated on the Internet are very deceptive ... It suggests that you can almost jump from the bed into the sea - that's not the case. If you walk 5 minutes, you can possibly a mini beach for max. Reach 4 people. To one of the right dream beaches you have to go 15 minutes by bike. And there the water is very rocky. The star rating stands for value for money, not for luxury. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Simple rooms, but clean and adequate. Nice yard unfortunately directly at the toilets of the restaurant. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
From our last place to stay, where we spent most of our time, we were a bit disappointed at first. The "garden" consisted of flower borders with concrete paths and red gravel. No green meadow, no outside shower. Too bad. The room was ok and adequate. The air conditioning was unfortunately the whole time. In the other accommodations, it turned off when the desired temperature was reached. Unfortunately, you could not use the fan because it squeaked. Great was the small kitchen. Since the hotel also has a restaurant, you heard the pots rattle from the kitchen and then clean. Which was sometimes very disturbing. Getting used to are the many silk spiders. For people with fear of spiders, this accommodation is nothing. This property served breakfast as a buffet. Wonderful! There was nothing missing. Some days we were the only breakfast guests. Since the buffet came to us at the table. The staff was always very friendly, in a good mood and helpful. In addition to the rooms probably still another accommodation is built. From there often came construction noise to the room. Also, the rooms were renovated gradually. Sometimes it smelled strongly of color. On the veranda you can from 14 clock as good as not stop, as the sun beats. The next beach is more than 40 meters ... A bike makes sense here. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The small Hotel Chez Marston offers very good value for money rooms. The restaurant available offers excellent cuisine. The owner very kind and nice. For those who do not have many claims it is highly recommended! Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Chez Marston is a slightly older small hotel with only 5 rooms. The rooms are absolutely fine, with the cleanliness we were completely satisfied. There is no cooking facilities, but kettle and fridge. The location is great as you can get there from anywhere. Supermarkets and Take Aways are not far away. The breakfast buffet was very clear. You have to know that breakfast in the Seychelles is not what we are used to. There are mainly eggs in all variations, toast, jam and fruit. In Chez Marston everything was available, but you have to speak of the staff for eggs, otherwise you will not get one. We did not eat there in the evening. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The room was rather small but clean. The choice for the dinner is not very big for vegetarians. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Staff (waiters) not friendly at all except the person who greeted me. Correct food. Very simple rooms. 75 € a night, a bit expensive compared to the quality. Translation (FR): GoogleTranslate
Good! Room enough bathroom with little space, excellent location! Excellent buffet breakfast, the only flaw, unfortunately, is the evening menu which for guests who are half-board is an understatement, they practically give you a sheet where you can choose the courses which are reduced to 4 dishes! It's a shame because the complete menu of the restaurant is very varied and of quality Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Very nice little hotel with nicely decorated rooms, very good food, despite the location on the main road quiet. Ideal location, as close to the port and 10 minutes by bike from Anse Source d argent. Staff very helpful and nice. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The room very good, but the average surroundings, the beach too far, the restaurant very well as well as the staff. Translation (FR): GoogleTranslate
Excellent location for exploring by bike. Charming accommodation that has gotten a bit old. Very good room service. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Clean rooms, friendly room service and reception. However, this was often not occupied and the service staff at breakfast was not very motivated and not attentive. The hotel is also getting old and you could make a lot of it, seemed a bit dull. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Hotel is right on the main street. Rooms are in the backyard. Therefore very quiet at night. Room simple but quite ok. Bathroom also simple but functional and pretty or tiled typical of the country. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was out of order - very cold. At night, chunks of ice fell from the air conditioning system and formed a puddle on the floor. Breakfast in buffet form. Freshly baked egg possible on request. Good starting point for exploring the island - also possible on foot. Restaurants and takeaways within walking distance or in the hotel. Sea and beach also within walking distance. Hotel is recommended if you do not need 4 * and would like to live in the country. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Location good. Room easy. Breakfast average. But no immediate access to the beach. Opposite new houses have been built in the meantime. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
About the staff and the boss there is nothing to complain about - very friendly, always a chat, very clean. The room was not as good as hoped. The bed was 140 wide and tough! Since I was traveling with a friend, it was then too tight and she took the bunk bed in the "nursery". Unfortunately, the mattress was too thin and too soft, so she needed 2 mattresses, in which she then sank. The air conditioning was right at the foot of the 140-bed attached and fell out every night several times. Since she only cooled one room, but not the nursery, we had to turn her colder, causing the system to bleed icy air on the bed every 5 minutes. Ergo: every night we had to start the air conditioning at least 3 times and my night was usually ended at 7 clock, because I was completely frozen and every bone from the mattress hurt me. In addition, there is a kindergarten right next door and EVERY morning a toddler screamed and roared for hours at 7.30 am! I live privately over a kindergarten and had hoped that I would be spared at least on vacation! Restful sleep looks different! The breakfast was in buffet form. Unfortunately missing something every morning: sometimes the plates, sometimes the cutlery, then the glasses, juice, coffee or bread. Unfortunately, the staff was a bit inattentive, but if you asked, everything was the same. A little more variety in the fruit offer would have been nice. We ate once at Marston, the reviews and the mostly well-visited eatery gave us a good idea, but unfortunately we either ordered the wrong one or the place has a new chef: the food was miserable! The meat in Beef Curry was so tough that you could neither cut it, let alone bite it! But I have to mention that the boss let us have a shower on the last day because we were not picked up until late afternoon. We got an apartment and were very pleasantly surprised: spacious rooms, large beds with neat mattresses. Too bad that these apartments are not offered with breakfast and we have overlooked this category, our review would have been very different! Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The location is good. Within walking distance to the ferry. The beach in the north not very far. There are a few souvenir shops and restaurants. It's very cool to watch the sunset at Fish Trap Harbor Restaurant for sunset happy hour (cocktails affordable at this hour). Staff very friendly. Room clean but not very big. Small terrace in the room is almost the entrance. Breakfast buffet very good, if you know the other Seychelles breakfasts. There are even cereals, cheese, pancakes and cakes. Otherwise, as usual toast, jam, fresh fruit and eggs, coffee / tea. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The house was now very simple and the bed too big in the relatively small room had very bad mattresses. The staff was very nice and the breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Excellent! Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Quiet and nice room in the backyard with great breakfast from the buffet. Attentive staff. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Nice little hotel right on the main artery of La Digue. It was all very clean but the rooms were a bit worn. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Room was simple but clean and in the restaurant you can eat well Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Hotel located in a central position close to the port. The structure is old and malfunctioning, starting from the air conditioning that worked for a maximum of 5 minutes then stopped, to the jet of the shower that threw the water everywhere except where it was needed, to the cleanliness questionable (there were gecko droppings on the beds), at breakfast scarce of variety and quantity and quality, all manifestations of the lack of interest in the guests. Definitely to be re-evaluated. Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Everything was great, from our trip the best accommodation. Super located, we took more often in the evening take away on the terrace, supermarket also in front of the door. Restaurant also very good, breakfast varied and (almost) everything homemade. Any time! Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Value for money unbeatable. Centrally located, boss always on site. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The Hotel Chez Marston was great and very central. The supermarket and takeaway was just around the corner. The breakfast buffet was rich and delicious. We had half board and therefore a second meal. Unfortunately, they had changed the map on the last day something and thus many dishes fell out. That was a pity, as a vegetarian I had very little choice. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Great rooms, very typical of the country and very clean. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Top service. Clean rooms. Good kitchen. Maston and staff are very nice. Also nice with own take away and supermarket .... Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Just enough structure, sufficient breakfast. However acceptable and according to expectations. Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Everything was great: good location, functional rooms, good cleaning, friendly staff. There is a small supermarket right next to the property. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Small and nice, very well placed on the dike. Translation (FR): GoogleTranslate
Everything fitted..... Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Old and Spartan environment, but in line with expectations. Good reception cleaning room upgradable, but still sufficient, good breakfast and dinner. The biggest problem was the presence of an old and extremely noisy air conditioner that compromised a lot the night rest ("Tony" room outdoor unit of the air conditioner mounted at the head of the bed) Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
The location is ok, because you anyway by bike to the beaches. The room was clean and the staff friendly, the food in the restaurant was also very good. In contrast to Praslin the breakfast was quite good, you were every morning asked, what you would like for an egg, as there is not so much choice at breakfast otherwise. I think that unfortunately there are already too many cars on the island, that takes something of the great charm of the island. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Very basic accommodation, but clean, everything worked. All very friendly. Marston very sympathetic. Food very good. Bicycles were organized. Overall, a very pleasant week. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Second island LA DIGUE Chez Marston: small hotel with a great location near the port. Great breakfast and dinner at the restaurant with a choice from the menu (with the exception of shellfish and seafood) all perfect. Good value for money. We rented the bicycles provided by the newly arrived hotel and we left immediately to discover the island. Translation (IT): GoogleTranslate
Eune rather burschikose accommodation, nevertheless good. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
They are nice, small, clean rooms with a great breakfast. Here we had the best and most abundant breakfast of all. The first 2 days we had problems with the air conditioning, but we got another room and Marston has a new installation installed on the same day. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
clean neat nicely decorated room, great breakfast service and also delicious, friendly staff. All around was great. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
It is a small old guest house with its own restaurant. Overall, it's a bit dated and not modern in style. The staff was always friendly and the breakfast good. Only the service (eg timing of the food) is in need of improvement. What was very disappointed was the fact that we did not receive a booked service: the "special dinner", which was included in the honeymoon specials, we unfortunately did not receive. When we ate in the hotel restaurant on the evening of our wedding, we got the bill as a matter of course. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The hotel has only 4 equally sized (or small) rooms and is centrally located on the "main street" just minutes from the harbor. The staff is helpful and friendly, the room was clean. Due to the small double bed with rock-hard mattress and unfavorably attached air conditioning we would not book this hotel again. During our stay was built loud across the street. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Totally satisfied - internet did not work, but was not dramatic for 4 days Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
Very nice, atypical, well located. Translation (FR): GoogleTranslate
have changed the accommodation in the "Orchid villas" Chez Marston also offers. The small apartments of the "small hotel" had neither TV nor Internet access (was in work). Otherwise everything is fine. Translation (DE): GoogleTranslate
The transfer from the airport to the hotel worked without any problems. We were received very friendly there. Since the room was not ready when we arrived in the early morning, we were offered a bungalow, which was larger and better equipped than the room we booked. The upgrade has not been calculated. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Rental bikes could be ordered directly from the front desk and were brought by the landlord. Breakfast and dinner were ok and the hotel category adequate.
