Diving & Snorkelling

Discover the Underwater World of La Digue

Here are some of our recommendations, depending on current wind and weather conditions. The best approach would be to pick spots that offer diving and snorkelling and that also have good weather conditions on the day.

Diving sites that we would recommend include Marianne Rock, Ave Maria, White Reef, Channel Rock, Sister Reef, and Cayman Rock. As these are covered in other parts of the travel guide, we will not cover them again here. Instead, here are two additional spots to explore.

Grey reef sharks rest on the sand at Marianne Rock, along with schools of snappers and groups of turtles. Near the rocks off the southern tip of Marianne, you will also be able to spot large moray eels. You may even encounter sharks, as they often come extremely close. Different shades of blue, painted by the waves on the rocks, will ensure more memorable moments. The site is not visited regularly due to its great distance. The Sister Reef is another unique diving experience with a depth of up to 24 metres. In addition to the colourful underwater world, there are grey reef sharks, yellowfin tuna, and stingrays.

Great snorkelling spots include Anse Severe, Anse Source d'Argent, and Anse Gaulettes. In terms of underwater scenery, do not miss a boat trip to Coco Island, Félicité, or Sister Island

Diving Centres on La Digue

We recommend the Azurra Dive Centre on La Digue, which is within easy reach of all accommodations by bike. Prices for dives range between €45 and €70. Alternatively, try the Trek Divers Scuba Diving in La Passe. This PADI diving school offers day courses for all levels, as well as diving tours and island trips for reasonable prices. Unlike others in the Seychelles, this provider also offers a large diving boat with all equipment including a compressor and toilet.
